After graduating university, I was consumed with the desire to pack up my bags, leave England far behind and discover what life was like on the other side of the world. Booking a one-way ticket to Australia was the life defining moment that kick-started my love of travel.
Using Australia as my base, I seized the opportunity to explore Southeast Asia. Often travelling for months at time, I explored each country in-depth and at my own pace. My dad was also a huge inspiration to travel this region extensively, as it’s where he called home and is why I have formed a particularly deep connection for that part of the world which, even now, remains stronger than any other.
Southeast Asia is undeniably intoxicating and I’m excited to share my love for Thailand and Malaysia with anyone eager to discover the rich culture and enchanting landscapes these countries have to offer.

Q&A with Nancy
What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?
Khao Soi is a dish I’ve only recently discovered but will certainly be seeking out whenever I’m in northern Thailand going forward. It’s a rich, creamy, soup-based coconut curry that’s only slightly spicy, and therefore matches my spice tolerance perfectly. The mixture of spices - turmeric, yellow curry powder and ground cardamom make it taste incredibly warming and comforting. The highlight for me being the combination of soft egg and crispy noodles which is something I’ve never come across before. See pictured the one I made myself at Grandma’s Cooking School in Chiang Mai, which is an absolute must do activity.
What’s the one thing you always pack?
I never travel anywhere without my wrap around eye mask and ear plugs. As a particularly fussy sleeper, I need complete quiet and darkness to drift off into an undisrupted sleep. Even more important if you’re flying on the red eye. Packing cubes are also an absolute must for me, as I like to keep everything as organised as I possibly can and when staying in multiple places over the course of one trip, it’s handy to group items of clothing together.
Where would you love to travel next?
For me, it has to be Japan. From the neon-lit streets and pop culture in Tokyo to the snow capped peaks of Mount Fuji, the scenery and atmosphere would be completely different to anywhere I’ve ever experienced and that really excites me. I would love to visit when the country turns a beautiful shade of pink during the cherry blossom season.
