Ballachulish Hotel, the Highlands

Ballachulish Hotel

Glencoe, The UK

The Ballachulish is a lovely hotel in a fantastic setting: just outside Glencoe Village on the shores of Loch Linnhe. Built from local stone bricks, the main building is traditionally Scottish and grand in appearance.

Despite the often chilly temperatures outside, the hotel stays warm and welcoming, and its old-fashioned decor lends a comforting charm. The hotel lounge is large and homelike, providing a welcome atmosphere for guests to relax with a drink from the bar in front of the TV or open fire. The good choice of dishes served in the hotel’s Bùlas Bar & Bistro focus on locally sourced ingredients.

OUR OPINION:

Rooms

There are just two room types in the Ballachulish, which differ only by size and view. The feature rooms are slightly more spacious than the standard ones, and look out either lochside or toward the Pap of Glencoe mountain. The decor is similar throughout, with light tones and scattered artwork on the walls, dark carpets and wooden furniture. Most bathrooms have a shower over a bath, although a selection have just a shower. There’s also tea and coffee-making facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi available.
