Cruceros Australis Cruise
Cruceros Australis Cruise
The ship sets sail from Ushuaia for the bottom of the continent of South America, the 'uttermost part of the Earth'.
This excursion will take you to unique spots only accessible by a four wheel drive vehicle.
You take the National Road Nº 3 northwards and enjoy the magnificent views of the Carbajal and Tierra Mayor valleys before reaching Garibaldi Pass, where you will make your first panoramic stop.
You continue along NR Nº 3 to Bronzovich Sawmill where you'll take a secondary road to Lake Fagnano. There, in an extraordinary forest, you will have breakfast. The off-road drive lasts for approximately one hour, following the coast of Lake Fagnano, sometimes through the forest, sometimes in the water. Before you arrive at Bombilla Lagoon you might like to take a 40-minute-walk to a refuge situated by the lake. There, your guides will be waiting for you with a tasty 'choripan' (typical Argentine sausage in sandwich) and a barbecue. The refuge is very rustic and comfortable and has a large window with the best views of Tierra del Fuego.
After lunch you will have some free time to walk around, rest and enjoy the landscape or simply talk over the meal with your travelling companions. At 3.30pm you will follow an off-road track until you reach the old road Nº 3 that borders Lake Escondido, continuing to the farthest tip of the lake, where Hosteria Petrel is located. There, you will have some free time again (around one hour) to walk, drink a coffee at the Hostelry or enjoy your surroundings.
At 5pm you will start your journey back along NR Nº 3 to the city of Ushuaia.
