Located just outside Field, on the road toward the beautiful Takakkaw Falls, this utterly charming lodge is constructed entirely from timber, featuring Douglas fir beams and large windows from which to enjoy sweeping views of the beautiful natural surroundings.
The lodge has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and its light-filled lounge comes complete with a huge stone fireplace for cold winter days as well as floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows looking out to the omni-present mountains. For warmer evenings, there's a spacious deck around the lodge overlooking the Kicking Horse River, and even on cooler days you can enjoy the fresh air while sitting around an outside fireplace. Staying in comfortable log cabins surrounded by fragrant pine trees, you can enjoy a truly authentic Canadian Rockies experience.
Set in the heart of a wilderness mountain setting, but with easy road access, this lodge is ideal for those who wish to get outdoors and explore this breath-taking location.

Rooms
Rooms are housed in cabins dotted among the trees; each featuring a sitting area with wood-burning fireplace or pot-bellied gas fireplace and either mountain or river views from a furnished porch. All are comfortably furnished with a delightful style reflecting the personality of the mountains, and in keeping with the 'mountain escape' feel there are no phones or TVs, although there are phones in reception for use in an emergency.
Amenities in each room include a deep soak bathtub, coffee maker, hair dryer and locally-made wooden furniture. Either twin or king size beds are provided, while the Premier Loft Cabins have a king sized bed and twin beds in the cosy loft, which is accessed via a ladder, making these a good option for families of up to four.
Location
Set in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, close to Banff and Yoho National Parks and just 15 minutes from Lake Louise, Cathedral Mountain Lodge is in a great location for exploring the spectacular scenery of this region.
Food and drink
The main lodge has a spacious dining room and an adjacent lounge complete with huge stone fireplace, where complimentary tea, coffee and cookies are served each day between 3pm and 5pm. Beyond this is a sun deck with a wood fire and views of the Kicking Horse River. The dining room serves breakfast and dinner, and lunches for hikers can be provided. We also highly recommend booking the restaurant well in advance, as along with the hikes, these frequently get fully booked; particularly during the summer months.
Families
The two-level Premier Loft Cabins can accommodate up to four guests, making them ideal for families.
Facilities and activities
Canoes are available for the use of guests at the nearby sister property of Moraine Lake Lodge; just show your room key when you arrive at the lake to rent one. This is a wonderful way of experiencing the beauty of Moraine Lake.
