A 15-minute walk from the main street in Olympia, the Hotel Europa offers you a convenient base for exploring the sights of the ancient city, with an outdoor taverna and spacious pool to boot.
The 86 rooms are divided between two buildings and decorated in a classic style that combines comfort and function. They offer plenty of space and include a balcony or terrace.
Outside, the large, inviting swimming pool is surrounded by loungers and umbrellas for relaxing on hot Greek afternoons. Another highlight of the hotel is its outdoor tavern, where you can enjoy traditional Greek fare under a pergola in a peaceful garden, along with local diners. With a games room and plenty of outdoor space for children to play, the hotel also caters well to families.
From the limited selection of hotels in Olympia, the Hotel Europa was one of the best choices we found because of its delightful taverna restaurant, spacious rooms, and scenic views over the countryside.

Rooms
The 88 rooms are set in two adjacent buildings that both overlook the pool and garden. They’re decorated in a simple, classic style with tile floors, clean lines, and wooden furnishings. The spaciousness of the rooms extends outside to a balcony or terrace, where you can sit out and enjoy a drink in the evenings. As a family, you’re also well provided for — each room can fit in an extra bed, and several larger arrangements are also available.
Location
The hotel sits just uphill from the middle of Olympia. The location is quiet but convenient enough that you can walk down to the town. You can reach the archaeological site of ancient Olympia, the area’s showpiece, in 10 to 15 minutes by car.
Food and drink
A buffet of traditional Greek dishes is laid out each morning in the breakfast room with its vault-ed, beamed ceiling. In the evenings, the outdoor taverna is a popular venue for both locals and guests. Olive trees, warm lighting, and tables set out under a large wooden pergola all lend to the scenic setting.
Families
A playroom kitted out with games and computers provides children with rainy-day entertainment or an escape from the heat. The rooms also cater for families — they can all accommodate a third child-size bed, and several larger, interconnecting room options are available.
Facilities and activities
There’s a large pool in the hotel’s garden.
