Yacht Charters in Grenada : The Moorings 5800 Sail Catamaran

Whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, the 5800 Sail Catamaran gives you the freedom to explore the Caribbean as you wish. Your skipper is on hand to share his local knowledge, helping you to make the most of your trip by suggesting the ideal snorkelling spot or secluded cove, while a cook will prepare your meals. There’s the complete flexibility to choose where you moor at night, whether you want to try out a beachside bar, or moor up offshore under the stars.

The 5800 Sail Catamaran is larger than its sister boat the 4800, with more facilities and space to relax. Above the main deck, the fly bridge is kitted out with lounge seating and a wet bar and grill — where you can enjoy freshly grilled snacks and cocktails with 360 degree ocean views. The main deck has an air-conditioned saloon with an indoor dining area and further seating, which leads out onto an outdoor dining area at the stern.

Appreciating the turquoise waters of the Grenadines is made easy with a hydraulic swim platform at the stern of the boat and on-board snorkelling equipment. You can cruise right alongside offshore reefs or sail north to the giant horseshoe reef of Tobago Cays. Grenada’s underwater sculpture garden is a highlight — or you can simply relax on a deserted stretch of sand.

There are plenty of opportunities to step ashore, including Grenada’s waterfall-strewn jungle interior or chocolate factory tour. The joy of sailing is that you’re not limited to Grenada, or even the Grenadines — your skipper will be able to suggest routes reaching Saint Lucia or Martinique, taking in a multitude of smaller islands and islets along the way.

Cabins

There are two different models of the 5800, the Legacy, Master and Select, each with a slightly different cabin layout. In all models each air-conditioned cabin has a private shower and toilet. There’s storage space under the bed as well as on a set of narrow shelves that run alongside the bed.

The Legacy sleeps up to ten passengers. Below deck are two double bedrooms and one twin room, plus a crew cabin. On the main deck, just off the saloon, are two double bedrooms with French doors that open onto a small cockpit area with seating.

The Master also sleeps ten passengers, with a slightly different below-deck configuration. One of the double bedrooms is larger with an extended bathroom with dual sinks while another has been redesigned so that the bed faces out for a more panoramic view through the window.

Dining

• Think of your yacht as an all-inclusive moving hotel, with a cook on hand to prepare your meals, snacks and rustle up a cocktail or two
• With a separate grill on the fly bridge, you can enjoy freshly-grilled snacks with 360-degree ocean views
• The boat will be stocked with your chosen drinks and food, and your cook can prepare separate children’s dishes and cater for any dietary requirements
• You can leave the chef to prepare all your meals, but we suggest trying out some of the local restaurants and bars — some only accessible by boat
• You can dine in the refined surrounds of a marina restaurant or enjoy locally caught lobster cooked on an oil-drum barbecue

Routes

No crewed yacht charter is ever the same, and after boarding your yacht in Port Louis Marina, the route is up to you. Your skipper, an experienced Caribbean sailor, will be able to suggest places that suit your interests from lively marinas to a cove that’s so secluded it feels like your own private beach.

After exploring Grenada’s long stretches of pearly-white sand, you can sail north to the aptly named Petite Martinique — it’s about a mile across — and Carriacou, where life passes at a languid pace. Further north is the island chain of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines where you’ll find uninhabited islands and cays as well as marinas flanked with fine-dining restaurants.
