Rooms

There are over 200 rooms at the resort, all of which are comfortably furnished in wood and marble. Amenities in all rooms include air conditioning, satellite TV, internet access, a minibar and a safe. The en suite bathrooms have a bathtub, shower and hair dryer, and every room has a terrace or balcony looking out over the tropical gardens or beach.

There are three different room types: Prestige Rooms, Junior Suites and Deluxe Suites, as well as a collection of private villas.

The Prestige Rooms are 45 sq m (147 sq ft) in size. They're distributed over three levels in the south wing of the resort, offering views over the gardens or the swimming pools. There are a number of interconnecting rooms available for families.

The Junior Suites are situated in the north wing of the resort. The suites are spacious, offering a seating and dining area in addition to the large bedrooms. Their private balconies or terraces are ideal places to relax with a book or a glass of wine in the evenings. Most overlook the gardens, with the remaining looking out over the beach.

The Deluxe Suites are 90 sq m (295 sq ft) and are located in the south wing, offering views of the ocean. Each has a separate living room, as well as the option of connecting to a Prestige Room to accommodate families.

Set slightly apart from the resort, but within reach of all the facilities are around 20 villas. These are set back from the beach in an area with small lakes, frangipani and coconut groves. Each villa has a lounge and small garden overlooking the private pool. They also have their own 'Villa Master', who'll look after you during your stay to ensure that you remain hassle-free and relaxed.

Location

Constance Belle Mare Plage has a superb location on the east coast of Mauritius. The resort is situated directly on a 2 km (1.2 mile) long, white sandy beach, set in tropical gardens. The beach is protected by an offshore coral reef, making it ideal for swimming and snorkelling.

Food and drink

As you would expect from such a large resort, there are a number of restaurants and bars.

There are six restaurants, four of which are located at the resort and two of which are found at the golf course. La Citronelle is the main restaurant and seats 350 people. It overlooks the swimming pool and provides Mauritian and Italian buffets, grills and seafood.

La Spiaggia is smaller, situated in a private corner of the resort and offers Italian cuisine. It's a lovely place to enjoy a quiet dinner.

Indigo Beach is the perfect place for lunch. Situated at the water's edge, it offers seafood and lighter snacks. Sitting under an umbrella enjoying some fresh fish, with the breeze blowing off the sea, is a delight.

Finally, La Kaze Bar and Grill serves a variety of snacks, salads, sandwiches, grilled dishes and light meals.

There are two restaurants at the golf course, including the Deer Hunter, which offers exclusive European cuisine combined with a Mauritian taste, and Le Swing, which has a selection of sandwiches, salads and light snacks.

There are five bars, all located next to the restaurants. Enjoy a cocktail by the beach, ice-cold beer at the golf course, or drink a chilled glass of wine overlooking the ocean.

Families

The resort is very well set-up for families, with lots of facilities for all ages. There's a children's club, the KaKoo Club, which welcomes children between the ages of four and 12 years.

A games room and a playground can be used by children, and both indoor and outdoor activities are organised daily under supervision. Babysitting facilities are available on request and special evenings are arranged for teenagers, depending upon numbers.

A number of rooms can have a third bed or a cot added to them to accommodate children. There are also a number of interconnecting rooms that are ideal for families.

Please note that the design of the balcony balustrades could be a hazard for children. We'll try to allocate a ground floor room or the hotel will provide perspex covers on request.

Honeymooners

The resort welcomes honeymooners, and those celebrating their anniversary, offering a number of excellent offers at certain times of the year. Couples also receive flowers in the room on arrival, a bottle of wine and canapés.

Facilities and activities

One of the strengths of Belle Mare Plage is the number of activities that you can enjoy at the resort. Complimentary activities included in your stay include waterskiing, glass-bottom boat trips, windsurfing, pedalo hire, kayaking and snorkelling. On land, you can enjoy mini-golf, table tennis and bowling.

Activities that can be arranged for an extra cost at the resort include golf on one of the two championship golf courses, parasailing, kitesurfing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, bicycle rental, and tennis and golf lessons.

For relaxation, the Shiseido Spa offers a wide variety of beauty and body treatments.

Located within the Belle Mare Plage Resort, Blues Diving is an authorised Scubapro Centre (SEA). It has two boats, including a Boston Wailer, which can take 18 people, and a rib which can carry 12 passengers.

Oxygen and first-aid kits are on board, as well as a GPS and a depth sounder. There are over 20 dive sites that can be explored by both novice and experienced divers.
