Desert Rhino Camp

The Palmwag Concession area is nothing if not impressive, with flat topped mountains, huge yellow plains and wild river valleys stretching over an incredible one million acres.

There's a good free roaming population of black rhino, monitored by the Save The Rhino Trust who base their research here. In addition to the rhino, there are large populations of Hartman's mountain zebra, giraffe, oryx, ostrich, springbok and kudu. If you are lucky you may stumble across a member of the area's predator population, with lion, cheetah, leopard and brown and spotted hyena all present. Birdlife is prolific and diverse with most of Namibia's endemics present.

Desert Rhino Camp is a luxurious, small tented camp. There are eight large luxury tents set on wooden platforms, all of which afford superb views of the surrounding plains. Each tent includes double or twin beds, wardrobes, rugs on the floor and spacious en suite bathrooms with copper twin basins, solar-heated shower and flush WC. The nearby dining room is also under canvas and has a large dining table where everybody eats together.

Activities at Desert Rhino Camp include tracking rhino on foot and in vehicles, guided walks, nature drives and sundowner drives.
