Just across the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok lies the city's secret garden — Bang Kra Jao. Only accessible by boat, you must cross the river on a small ferry to reach this beautiful area full of small villages, temples and tropical flora.
The tour begins when guests are collected from their hotel by a personal cycling guide in a car and taken to the ferry crossing. There you are given a full briefing of the route you will take and any safety points that may be relevant.
Once over the river you begin your leisurely exploration of this unique Bangkok area. The tour is a very easy ride along a maze of waterways and through lush urban jungle. You visit an incense factory and an Ayutthaya era temple along the way. Refreshment stops line the route and you can dictate the pace as suits you.
There are no hills and, aside for the need to be careful along the raised waterway paths which can be narrow, the route is an easy 22 kilometres.
Your guide will be a fluent English speaker and a great source of information. You are given a full introduction to your bike and how it operates should you need it. Helmets and padded seats are provided and the bikes are modern, well maintained mountain bikes. The guide will carry a maintenance kit at all times as well as bottles of water.
