Leopard Trails was born from a group of close friends in 2012, who share a love of outdoor adventures, camping, wildlife and wilderness, particularly the conservation of the latter.
This property sits not far from Yala’s park gates and has eight spacious, very comfortable tents. It’s the perfect place to switch off (there is no Wi-Fi) and experience what Yala and its surroundings have to offer, all with the help of Leopard Trails' superb Game Rangers and naturalists.
Leopard Trails is an intimate, very comfortable camp, ideally situated for exploring Yala, its wildlife and beautiful surroundings. The staff and Game Rangers are friendly and professional and the tents themselves are luxurious to retreat to after a day outdoors.

Rooms
Luxurious linen, dark wood furniture and air-conditioning are some of the luxurious touches which make the spacious tents very comfortable. Each has bathroom facilities (the shower is outside but private and with hot water) and a veranda. The suite option is even larger; ideal for groups of friends or families.
Location
This luxurious but rustic tented camp is situated on the outskirts of Yala National Park, but conveniently located for each of the official entrances. Yala is the most visited national park in Sri Lanka and is said to be home to the highest density of leopards anywhere in the world. The park, nestled in the southeast of Sri Lanka, is split into five blocks and boasts rivers, jungle, lagoons and lakes.
Food and drink
The jungle kitchens at Leopard Trails are simple and authentic but provide delicious dishes and meals. Sri Lankan curries and sambols often slow-cook all day, filled with local produce and a variation of spices. For foodies or a special occasion, a Leopard Trails bush dinner is quite an experience; a ‘culinary journey through Sri Lanka’ which is a memorable eight- to ten-course tasting menu, accompanied with a campfire and chilled drinks.
Facilities and activities
Exploring Yala park to see its huge variety of wildlife is the main draw to Leopard Trails (the clue’s in the name), however there are plenty of other activities: from guided bush walks and specialist birding tours to cooking lessons, photography safaris and cruises on the lake. For children there is a Junior Ranger Programme and for those wanting some history, there are 2nd-century BC ancient Buddhist monasteries nestled in the nearby jungle.
