Elephant Hills Lake Camp, Khao Sok National Park

Elephant Hills Lake Camp

Khao Sok National Park, Thailand

The Elephant Hills Lake Camp is situated in the heart of the Khao Sok National Park on the beautiful Cheow Larn Lake, and is Thailand's first floating camp.

The camp's luxury safari-style tents are comfortable, securely anchored and insect proof, providing solid beds and en suite facilities with hot and cold water.

With an emphasis on being eco-friendly, the camp makes an intimate base from which to explore Khao Sok’s tropical rainforest, swim in the emerald green Cheow Larn Lake or take a safari kayak trip with your nature guide in search of wildlife. A night here combines perfectly with one night at Elephant Hills Tented Camp, where you can enjoy a hands-on experience with the elephants.

OUR OPINION:

Elephant Hills Lake Camp is a favorite property of Audley’s, and works well alongside a night at the Elephant Hills Tented Camp. This perfect combination will provide you with an unforgettable experience. Surrounded by the Limestone Mountains, tropical rainforest and Cheow Larn Lake, this has got to be one of the most picturesque landscapes in Thailand.

Rooms

The luxury safari-style tents float on the Cheow Larn Lake, enjoying a scenic backdrop of rainforest and limestone mountains. Each tent is powered by solar and wind energy only and has solid beds, a private en suite with shower, and are insect proof. A small decking area overlooks the lake and the stunning surrounding landscape, and your own kayak is provided for you to explore the area at your own leisure.

Location

Khao Sok National Park is only a two-hour drive from Phuket airport and combines well with a beach stay in Krabi, Khao Lak and Phuket. The park covers an area of over 1,200 square kilometers of mostly virgin rainforest. There's plenty of wildlife in the park, although depending on the time of day it can be quite elusive. However, your knowledgeable guide will help spot species such as gibbons and hornbills.

Food and drink

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included at the camp. Thai and a small selection of international cuisine is served buffet-style in the main camp area, which is a good place to meet other guests and share your experiences. Drinks can be ordered and paid for with cash only.

Families

Families are very welcome at the camp, but children under the age of seven are not recommended to stay here. However, they can visit for the day from Elephant Hills Tented Camp. The days are filled with fun and adventurous tours that are well-suited to families, including kayaking, trekking and elephant experiences. Young children under the age of three can't participate in all of the tours due to the size of life jackets and other health and safety issues.

Facilities and activities

A luggage storage is offered where you can leave your suitcase when you go to the camp — an overnight bag is all you'll need for a stay here.

Environmental and social responsibility

The camp is powered only by solar and wind energy and has a waste management system in place to reduce its environmental impact.
