Cruise Ships in Antarctica : Ocean Explorer

Who better to guide you through the world’s most remote reaches than Quark Expeditions, whose small ships have been taking voyagers to the polar regions for three decades. Whether crossing the Antarctic Circle or cruising Greenland’s rugged northeast coast, the Ocean Explorer gets you up close to icebergs, shipwrecks, and out-of-this-world wildlife, as well as offering lesser-visited shore landings.

Spacious and light-filled, every inch of the 138-passenger Ocean Explorer has been thoughtfully designed to ensure you get the most out of your polar experience.

You’ll enjoy smoother sailing through glacier-laden waters thanks to the inverted bow design, as the ship takes you to remote shores for encounters with gentoo penguins and ice formations.

Your best vantage points for photo opportunities or stargazing come on the two sweeping outdoor decks, where you might spot a polar bear by day and the Great Bear by night.

Walkout balconies in most suites and floor-to-ceiling views in the double-height library, restaurant, and lounge ensure no wildlife is missed, and you can gaze at snow-capped peaks from the sauna or in an on-deck Jacuzzi.

You’ll shape your adventure around your passions with onshore activities, from hiking glaciers to kayaking fjords, and on-board talks by experts on history, biology, and glaciology.

And thanks to fuel-efficient engines and a system that converts waste into energy, you can enjoy the landscapes safe in the knowledge you’re leaving a considerably cleaner wake behind.

Cabins

Spread across five decks, there are seven types of single, double, and twin-bed suites and staterooms, including a two-room Penthouse Suite and an airy apartment on the highest cabin deck. All showcase bespoke Scandinavian design and come with heated bathroom floors and infotainment systems. Some have sitting rooms and bathtubs, and most feature floor-to-ceiling windows and walkout balconies.
