On a quiet street near Stephansplatz, Hotel Kärntnerhof offers guests a comfortable, no-frills atmosphere. A 19th-century building, the hotel features the Art Nouveau style commonly seen throughout Vienna. Follow the tiled flooring to the red-carpet-covered stone staircase where you can stop to admire the wrought iron railing.
This boutique hotel is simple but has everything you need for a restful stay. There’s a daily breakfast buffet and a rooftop terrace with tables and lounge chairs so you can drink a cup of coffee and take in the view of the baroque Heiligenkreuzerhof towers.
There is no restaurant in the hotel, but its location within the First District means there are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
Though a simple boutique property tucked away on a quiet side street, we like Hotel Kärntnerhof for its good value and proximity to Saint Stephen’s Cathedral and Stephansplatz.
