The luxury beach-inspired villas are modern and spacious, and include one, two, and four-bedroom options. Each private villa faces the clear waters of Governor’s Harbour and feature a golf cart to explore the resort, along with Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and ceiling fans and in-room iPads. Décor is elegant and stylish, with soft gray tones and white furnishings. 

Villas 1 to 8 include a partial ocean view, set back from the beach, and feature a spacious outdoor covered deck, a plush king bed and a private bathroom with double sinks and spacious shower. The villa also has a comfortable sitting area with a sofa bed and reading chair.

Villas 9 and 12 are two-bedroom oceanfront properties, which feature panoramic views and a spacious outdoor covered deck overlooking Governor’s Harbour and Cupid’s Cay. Each bedroom offers either a king or queen bed with private bathrooms featuring double sinks and spacious showers, and double French doors that open up into the central living room area. The villa also includes a fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances. 

Villas 10-11 are premium one-bedroom oceanfront properties and feature a covered veranda, beautiful views of the harbor along with double French doors that open up into the living room area and the fully equipped kitchen with full-size, high-end appliances. 

Villas 14-18 consists of the four-bedroom Royal House, for your very own private getaway. This four-bedroom oceanfront house is perfect for groups of families or friends, and includes a private outdoor pool. It features four bedrooms with plush king beds and four private bathrooms with showers and double vanities. The Royal House is oceanfront and features ocean views, a spacious outdoor covered deck and has a comfortable living and dining area along with a fully equipped kitchen with luxury appliances.

Villas 19-22 are the oceanfront one-bedroom properties and have a spacious outdoor covered deck along with ocean views. Complete with a plush king bed and a private bathroom with double sinks and spacious shower, the villa also has a comfortable sitting area with a sofa bed and reading chair.

Location

French Leave Resort is situated just outside of the historic village of Governor's Harbour on Eleuthera. The island is known for its pink-sand beaches and lies 80 km (50 miles) east of the Bahamian capital, Nassau, which can be reached via a 20-minute flight. The closest airport is Governor's Harbour Airport, which is about 11-minutes’ drive away.

From the hotel it's about a 10-minute walk into town, where you'll find shops, a few restaurants and cafés, and an ATM.

Food and drink

Seaside-casual 1648 Bar & Grille is one of the island's best upscale dining experiences, offering dining inside and alfresco at breakfast, lunch and dinner, with sunset views from the bar and veranda.

Dishes comprise American classics with a Bahamian twist and a focus on seafood, including salads, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas alongside more traditional, tropical ingredients such as conch chowder, shrimp and conch ceviche, and fish prepared in a variety of ways.

Families

The resort is not traditionally orientated for children, so there is no kids’ club or specific child-friendly activities available, but they are welcome at the hotel. 

Facilities and activities

The lush grounds are a highlight, with plenty of appealing spots for lounging. One of the main attractions is the infinity pool, which is scenically set overlooking the bay and has an attractive pool deck lined with padded wicker loungers and parasols. The French Leave Beach is another highlight. A stretch of powdery pinkish white sand and turquoise water, you can take part in a handful of water sports here, including kayaking (tandem and solo), stand-up paddle boarding, and snorkeling. There’s also a 24-hour fitness center.
