Ambassador Zlata Husa

Ambassador Zlata Husa

Prague, Czechia (Czech Republic)

Set on Wenceslas Square in central Prague, the Ambassador Zlata Husa puts you within walking distance of all the city’s major sights, from the Charles Bridge to the Old Town Square. The property is actually two hotels combined: the Ambassador and the Zlata Husa. The former was Europe’s first department store between 1914 and 1918, before being turned into a hotel in 1920. It was joined with Zlata Husa in 1964 to form one grand hotel.

The Art-Nouveau style of both buildings takes you back to their early years, with chandeliers dripping from the ceilings, elegant dark-wood or white furniture and intricately embroidered fabrics.

The 162 rooms and suites have high ceilings, large windows hung with heavy drapes and original cornice features, balancing their early-20th-century style with modern amenities. During your stay, you could choose to dine in the hotel’s two restaurants, which regularly host regular live folk music in the evenings. There’s also a wellness facility where you can indulge in a massage or spa treatment.

OUR OPINION:

We like this hotel’s central location in a quiet pedestrian-only area, close to all the city’s attractions. There’s a real sense of history within its walls, reflected in the elegant furnishings.

Rooms

The 162 rooms and suites are furnished in an elegant Art-Nouveau style, using light, neutral tones and high-quality fabrics and furnishings. Original features blend with modern amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi and satellite TVs, and each room has a spacious marble en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower. The large windows provide ample natural light, with some rooms looking directly over Wenceslas Square. Rooms in the Ambassador side of the hotel have slightly more character, but all are generous in size and comfort.

Location

The hotel is positioned on leafy Wenceslas Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where many historical occasions have occurred and events, rallies and demonstrations still occasionally take place. Staying here, you’re just a brief stroll from Charles Bridge and the many attractions within the Old Town, and you’ll find plenty of restaurants, cafes and museums within the square itself.
