Flame of the Forest is a dream hideaway for nature enthusiasts, nestled right next to the Banjar River. It was built sustainably in 2008 in collaboration with local craftsmen and techniques, each cottage was hand-built with local materials by local artisans using traditional techniques, ensuring harmony with the environment.

There are only four luxury cottages with private sit-outs, comfortable interiors, and spacious bathrooms, surrounded by a mixed forest habitat with over 2,000 planted trees.

The owner, Karan, previously working as a naturalist with the Taj Safaris group, decided along with his wife, Isa, to provide a small camp with personalised service, located 15 minutes from the Kisli gate. Due to their commitment to sustainable practices and belief in supporting the local community, the team here, including the manager, consists of locals from the Gond tribe who bring with them an ocean of knowledge, contributing to the betterment of the local community through education and employment opportunities. Karan himself enjoys taking his guests on jeep safaris, as he is extremely enthusiastic about Kanha's wildlife and natural environment.

There are no TVs, minibars, or swimming pool, but an outside waterfall-style shower, peaceful setting, and beautiful views over the river more than make up for it.

The lodge is proud of the social enterprise they operate where they train the women to stitch clothes and run workshops on women’s health and hygiene that has seen enormous success. On request, they are happy to take you to see these projects to help you understand the effort being made by them.
