Spread over a former castle, tower and private villa dating back to the 14th century, the Borgo dei Conti feels a world apart from the heart of Perugia, which is around a 30-minute drive away. Overlooking the Umbrian countryside, the former village has been transferred into a 50 room luxury property. The extensive grounds and gardens that are part of the property are home to a walking and running track, tennis court and ancient olive trees. There’s also an outdoor swimming pool that is open during summer months and a small covered indoor pool that’s open during colder months.
Inside the villa the common areas are furnished in a contemporary yet elegant style, with period furniture pieces giving a nod to the hotel's history. The main hotel restaurant, Limonaia, is decorated in contemporary style and serves up Umbrian flair with a modern twist. There is a small gym and spa also located in the main building.
Rooms differ slightly in terms of size but all are decorated in an elegant, modern style. Many still have original features such as wooden beams, stained-glass windows and fireplaces as well as modern features like outdoor Jacuzzis. Rooms are scattered throughout the property, with some even located in the medieval tower.
There are many activities offered onsite which can be arranged via the hotel concierge.

Rooms
Rooms vary in shape and size, but all are decorated in a contemporary style with a nod to the hotel’s roots through original features such as frescoed ceilings, wooden beams and fireplaces. Most rooms have a window but there are some suites with terraces offering outdoor seating and Jacuzzis, which are heated during winter months. Most of the rooms are located in the main building although a small selection are located in the medieval tower and castle.
Location
Located close to the hotel are a few small Umbrian villages where you may find the odd bar, café or restaurant. For more choice the heart of Perugia is 18 km (11 miles) away from the hotel. In Perugia there is a large selection of branded shops, bars and restaurants.
Food and drink
The main restaurant, Limonaia, serves a hot and cold buffet in the mornings and Umbrian fare with a contemporary twist in the evenings. During summer months both breakfast and dinner can be served on the terrace. Alongside the outdoor pool is Terrazza de Borgo, a gourmet pizza restaurant which is open for light lunches and informal dinners.
Facilities and activities
The giant gardens have tracks which can be used for leisurely walks or running. In the garden there is also a tennis court, which is floodlit in the evenings. The hotel has a small gym and spa area. Should you not wish to walk in the gardens you can ask for a golf cart from the hotel reception.
A range of onsite activities can be booked via the concierge including truffle hunting, wine tasting and special dinners.
