A 16th-century building renovated into a boutique hotel in 2012, Maison Particulière has retained its original grandeur. It combines contemporary comfort and elegance with the feeling of staying in a stately home. There are just ten rooms, so the service here is impeccable. Located in the heart of the city, the hotel is just a five-minute walk from major sights such as the Sé do Porto and the Palácio da Bolsa.
The original staircase carries you up to the rooms. Each one is individually decorated while keeping the original features of the building, such as exposed stone walls and reclaimed ceiling panels. All rooms offer en suite bathrooms with a freestanding shower, as well as air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Breakfast is served à la carte each morning, with orders placed the night before. You all eat together around one dining table so you can meet your fellow guests. Alternatively, you can take breakfast in your room. There’s also a comfortable lobby area with a small bar where you can gather and chat over a drink. Although there’s no restaurant at the hotel, there are several restaurants, bars and cafés just steps away from the front door.
We find the service at Maison Particulière friendly and personal, and the whole property conveys an air of quality and elegance.
