Itinerary idea in detail

Ask us if you would also like us to arrange your international flights at our preferred rates.

  • An Audley representative and your private driver will meet you at the airport before you're driven to your accommodation, which is around half an hour away, depending on traffic. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the city. You could stroll along the V&A Waterfront, lined with trendy shops, cafés, and restaurants. We also recommend visiting the peaceful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, where you can see a wide variety of local flora.

  • Enjoy a tour of Cape Town's main highlights with a local guide, including the Houses of Parliament, the 17th-century Castle of Good Hope (South Africa's oldest building), the lively market at Greenmarket Square and Table Mountain, where you can take a cable car to the summit for sweeping views over the city and ocean. Afterwards, stop at Bo-Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, to admire the cobbled streets and brightly painted houses. This afternoon, we recommend catching the boat to Robben Island, where Mandela spent much of his imprisonment. A former inmate leads tours of the old prison for an interesting insight into life on the island.

  • Spend the day exploring the wild, rugged coastline of the Cape Peninsula with your private guide. You'll visit Cape Point, South Africa's most southwestern point, the jackass penguin colony at Boulders Beach and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you can see a wide range of local flora as well as several species of antelopes, baboons, and varied birdlife. You will have ample opportunity to take photographs throughout the trip, and you will pass through several pretty towns and villages where you may wish to purchase lunch.

  • Today you'll venture through rolling countryside scattered with vineyards on a private tour of the Cape Winelands. You can include up to three wine tastings and one cellar tour in the picturesque towns of the Winelands. First is Stellenbosch, South Africa's second-oldest town, where you can admire the Cape Dutch architecture. Sample the local wines, coupled with chocolates that complement their taste. You'll then move on to Franschhoek, the country's culinary capital, for more wine tasting at one of the estates. Your final wine tasting is in Paarl, set at the foot of dramatic granite domes. You will then be driven the two hours back to Cape Town. Lunch is not included but can be arranged at one of the vineyards or local restaurants.

  • This morning, your driver will take you back to the airport in time for your two-and-a-half-hour flight to Maun in Botswana. On arrival, you will board a light aircraft for a 35-minute direct flight to the private Kwara Concession. You will be met at the airstrip by your private driver and guide and driven the short distance to your camp — depending on the water levels, the journey may include a short boat ride. On arrival, you may wish to spend the rest of the day relaxing at your camp, sipping on a sundowner in the boma area. Alternatively, join an afternoon or night game drive for your first glimpse of the area's wildlife.

  • Enjoy a full day of game viewing around the concession. Morning and afternoon game drives give you the chance to spot big game such as elephants, lions, and giraffes, while bush walks with an expert guide allow you to see and learn more about the smaller creatures that can be found here, from reptiles to insects to birds. Night drives provide an opportunity to see and hear nocturnal species such as honey badgers, bush babies, and even leopards.

  • Spend another day on safari from Kwara Camp. We highly recommend joining a boat safari or mokoro trip on the water, where you may spot crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of birds, including bright little bee-eaters, crakes, and pygmy geese. Floating along the water and through the reeds is incredibly peaceful, and your guide will help point out the passing wildlife. You may also wish to go on another wildlife drive to tick off any species you've yet to see — wild dogs, cheetahs, and African wildcats are all found here.

  • Today, you'll be driven back to Kwara's airstrip, where you'll board a light aircraft for the hour-and-a-half flight to Kasane Airport. On arrival, your private driver will meet you for the hour-long journey to your ecolodge on the banks of the Zambezi River. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing on the property or we can arrange for you to join a guided sunset river cruise to see and learn about Zambezi wildlife, including birds, hippos, and crocodiles.

  • Today, you will visit the mighty Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Gazing out over the expanse of water, you can hear its roar and feel the spray as it crashes into the crevasse. The falls are part of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, which also offers opportunities to view wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and impalas on wildlife drives. You may also wish to explore nearby villages to learn about the local culture or pay a visit to the Livingstone Museum.

  • Another day to enjoy Victoria Falls and the surrounding area. You could take a guided canoe trip along the river, try a spot of fishing, or browse a local craft market for some hand-crafted souvenirs. A helicopter or microlight flight over the falls is a different way to experience this natural spectacle, and an impressive way to end your trip, as you can get a real sense of scale from the air.

  • Today your private driver will pick you up for the 35-minute journey to Livingstone Airport. They will assist with your bags and check-in before you board your onward flight.
