A large resort hotel close to the beach in Jeju’s lively Jungmun area, The Shilla Jeju offers spacious rooms, high standards and a wide range of facilities. With easy access to the beach and three swimming pools, the hotel gives you plenty of opportunity to relax at the end of your trip.
The decor is modern in style with a muted neutral palette and warm woods throughout. The premier terrace rooms include details such as traditional window screens that give them a slight Korean character, but in general the hotel has an international style.
The 429 rooms span several categories, but all are spacious and well equipped. The terrace rooms have the added benefit of giving you direct access to the garden. You can choose to dine in one of the hotel’s three restaurants, or opt for the outdoor barbecue where you can enjoy dishes such as grilled lobster and Wagyu beef. The hotel can also arrange yachting, fishing or guided hikes for a small fee.
Despite its large size, we believe The Shilla is easily the best hotel in the area. We like its tasteful, elegant design, and while its Western-style rooms might lack a little character, they’re all of a very high quality.

Rooms
The hotel has a wide choice of spacious guest rooms. Each room type has a slightly different decor, but all have a modern, international style with a subtle nautical theme. The premier terrace rooms are the only ones with some Korean character, featuring ondol (heated) floors and traditional window screens. Some rooms look out over the ocean or the surrounding mountains, with some giving you views of Mount Hallasan and the island’s lush landscape on a clear day. All rooms have a satellite TV, air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Location
The Shilla is situated in the large resort area of Jungmun, in southwestern Jeju. Staying here gives you easy access to nearby attractions such as Jungmun Beach, the columnar basalt formations at Jusangjeolli Cliff and the Osulloc Tea Museum and Garden. While the hotel has its own restaurants, you’ll find a limited range of other dining options in the immediate area if you’d prefer to venture out.
Food and drink
The hotel’s three restaurants cover a range of tastes: Cheonjee serves traditional Korean cuisine along with local Jeju dishes, Hinode focuses on Japanese food, while The Parkview is a large, buffet-style restaurant where you’ll find a European menu. As well as the lobby’s lounge-bar, there’s a poolside bar, the Ollae bar and a patisserie.
Families
One of the hotel’s three pools is aimed at families and has larger cabanas to rent. Terrace rooms have a double, twin and ondol (heated roll-out) bed and give you direct access to the garden. There’s also a kids' club, a small indoor climbing wall, an outdoor playground and a PlayStation Games Zone.
Facilities and activities
The hotel has three year-round pools — the indoor pool and the outdoor family pool are connected, so you can swim between them, while the quieter adults-only pool has a more tranquil setting. A choice of cabanas (private gazebo-like structures) and sunbeds can be hired for a separate fee. You can also relax in the Jacuzzis and Finnish saunas, while the Guerlain Spa offers a wide range of treatments.
