&Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

&Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is enchanting. It is built deep into the forest with minimal impact on the surrounding environment and is entirely hidden from view until you are right in the lodge.

Leafy paths lead to ten tree-houses, built on stilts in the branches of mahogany trees. Wooden steps with twisted banisters lead to your tree-house which is fabulously luxurious and tucked away from all the others by branches, leaves and lianas. Inside, there are big beds with sweeping muslin nets, beige sofas, soapstone carvings and wrought iron and cream lamps.

The en suite bathrooms have Victorian baths and outdoor showers. A leafy veranda runs the length of the tree-house with branches and tree trunks coming up through the wooden decking. At night you can see the bush babies leaping from tree to tree and in the morning the bird calls surround you. Your own personal butler will attend to your every whim throughout your stay.

The main lodge is also ingeniously designed. There is a big lounge, open-plan kitchen and dining room and sandy boma which is lit by 50 lanterns and roaring fires at night. Activities from the lodge include game drives in the remote southwest of the park where the lodge is situated and after a long day of game viewing, you can relax by the small swimming pool which is nestled in a forest glade.
