Located on the rugged west coast of Canada in a peaceful spot on Quadra Island, April Point Resort is the perfect getaway. You can experience tranquillity surrounded by pine forests and the teal waters of Gowlland Harbour.
Most of the rooms have ocean views and an outdoor patio. The oceanfront location is the perfect spot for lovers of wildlife; you will often be able to spot whales, curious harbour seals and other marine wildlife. You might spot bald eagles swooping from above and heron fishing below.
There are a number of activities on offer at the hotel that make the most of the surroundings, including guiding salmon fishing and grizzly bear tours. To explore further, kayak and bike rentals are available as well as more relaxing treatments in the spa.
April Point makes an attractive alternative to Campbell River properties if you are staying for more than one night, but you will need to build in a little extra travelling time for getting to and from the resort either via the ferry or the shuttle boat.

Rooms
The rooms are simply decorated with floral fabrics and lots of pine, providing a clean and comfortable base from which to explore. Most are set in one- and two-storey wooden-slatted cabins which blend in with the surrounding landscape.
Most rooms have views of the ocean but we particularly like the harbourview rooms which have a view across Gowlland Harbour. The oceanview rooms have dramatic views of Discovery Passage and the surrounding Coastal Mountains.
Location
Tucked away on the shores of Quadra Island, the April Point Resort offers guests a peaceful getaway with scenic views of Discovery Passage. The remote location gives guests the unique opportunity to enjoy the wilderness of the area and watch the local wildlife from the comfort of the hotel. You’re also well located if you’re eager to get out and explore the surrounding waters or forest.
Food and drink
A buffet breakfast is available every morning from 7.30am to 11.00am.
Each Thursday is Oyster night. You can enjoy freshly shucked oysters that have been locally sourced by oyster farmers of the area.
The hotel’s sister property, Painters Lodge is located a short water shuttle away in Campbell River, Vancouver Island. Here you’ll find more extensive dining options such as the Tyee Pub where you can enjoy a casual pub meal in a cosy environment.
Families
Interconnecting rooms are available.
Facilities and activities
The hotel can arrange grizzly bear spotting tours, whale watching and more general wildlife tours with a trained naturalist. Salmon fishing trips are offered around the island.
