Each of the rooms is furnished with period furniture — some with four-poster beds — and has an en suite bathroom. Meals are served in the upscale restaurant, Ludwig, part of a chain of top-quality restaurants run by Chef Tomer Biran. When not out exploring the island, you can take a swim in the outdoor pool or stroll through the beautifully landscaped garden.

While we've had mixed feedback regarding the food and service levels here, the property's characterful, well-appointed rooms and peaceful island location make a stay worthwhile.

Rooms
Each of the 15 spacious rooms has its own character, furnished with period wooden furniture including dressers and double beds, some of which are four-poster. Long drapes hang at the large windows, which allow for plenty of natural light. Some rooms have patterned rugs and fireplaces, adding to the warm and welcoming ambience. Within your room, you'll find a TV, hair dryer and safe among other amenities. Wi-Fi and air conditioning are included, and there are free-standing, roll-top baths in the en suite bathrooms.
Location
The property is located a short drive and ferry ride from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, and is just 1 mile (1.6 km) from the ferry terminal on Gulangyu Island. There are no cars on the island, but it's easy to explore on foot, with the esplanade, the beach, museums and Nanputuo Temple all just a short walk away.
