Spain, Portugal & Morocco Specialist

Travel is something that I’ve always had a passion for, I love to plan experiences that will last a lifetime. My house is a collection of souvenirs spanning from a local painted fan made in Seville to a hand-painted tile from Casa dos Bicos (Portuguese for house of the beaks/spikes) which is a famous landmark in Lisbon. I look forward to a morning espresso and pastry while taking in the slower more relaxed pace of life that you feel while on holiday.

My travels have opened my eyes to my passions in life, some of which are photography, architecture, history, and culture. I’ve photographed a local fisherman on the side of a cliff with a rod over 2 m (20 ft) long, watched amazing flamenco flare in Plaza de Espana performed by local street performers, and taken in the smells and spices of souks in Marrakesh. I enjoy how different regions offer different experiences making it interesting no matter where or when you go on holiday.

Q&A with Corinne

Land iguana, Galapagos Islands

What’s the one thing you always pack?

The one thing I always pack is my camera. On my first adventure in 2011 to Spain and Portugal I decided I wanted to get a camera to take pictures of my journey as a hobby — I knew nothing about photography. Fast forward ten years and many adventures later, I’ve grown as a photographer and have shot weddings, babies, and engagements, but my heart is with landscapes and travel. I love to look back at my images of the Sacred Valley of Peru, the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands, and the bullring in Ronda to see how I saw the trip through the lens of my camera. When I view one of my pictures it takes me back to the moment and feeling.

Where would you love to travel next?

I’d love to travel to the Azores having only had the chance to stop there during a layover to Lisbon. After travelling to the Greek Islands, I would love to experience what Portuguese island life is like and how it could be different or similar to the mainland. I also love to hike, and my research has shown me all the trails, waterfalls, and natural beauty the islands have to offer. I’d love the opportunity to go to the hot springs in Furnas on Sao Miguel Island and relax in the healing waters of the Volcanic Island.

Your best piece of travel advice?

My advice for any travel would be to enjoy the moment and capture it. The culture of Spain, Portugal and Morocco takes a slower pace in regards to lifestyle, and when you’re there it’s fine not be in a rush. Enjoy the atmosphere. When you wake up make sure to start your morning with a good meal before you head out on your days activities. Take it all in and don’t rush through each moment because it does go by extremely fast. For the notable moments try and capture it using a camera or even a journal. I like to pick out some type of memento that will help me remember that experience later in life. I recall walking around the streets of Seville on New Years Eve 2019. I found a local shop that sold hand painted fans, the colours and beauty really struck me, so I decided to go in and purchase it. It’s now a staple in my household and when people ask about the origin of where I got the beautiful hand painted fan, I have a delightful story to share.
