Denarau Island is a man-made island created from reclaimed mangrove swamps. Even though the hustle and bustle of everyday Fijian life is only six kilometres away in Nadi town, Denarau Island is a shiny, upmarket tourist haven.

There has been a sharp increase in the tourist industry over recent years and Denarau has seen huge development, not only within the tourist sector but in real estate as well. These days visitors can choose from a wide range of classy hotels that mix and match their amenities allowing visitors a good choice in activities, swimming pools and restaurants.

Denarau Island also boasts one of Fiji's best golf courses. Even though the beaches here are not as spectacular as those in the outlying islands, Denarau is an excellent place to start or finish a trip due to its proximity to the airport and other good transport links.

Helicopter transfers out to the nearby island groups leave daily, as do the boats that service the Mamanuca and Yasawa Island groups from Port Denarau.
