Visit Tash Rabat, Kyrgyzstan

Nestled in a gorgeous valley and miles away from the nearest town is Tash Rabat. Most visitors will stop here en route to Naryn or the Chinese border. In either direction it is a most welcome break.

The old caravanserai here is worth poking around and there are local guides who have their own interesting theories about what it is for and who occupied it. Apart from that it is all glorious isolation.

The mountains around the caravanserai are often dusted with snow, sometimes inundated, depending on the season. There are also yurts here, for those who want to try nomadic living.
