With its sleek façade and ultra-modern decor, Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal combines modern-day comforts with panoramic views over the old town and Alzette Valley. The lobby features angular chairs in black and white, contrasting with the bright hues of the striped rug, which mirrors the tones in the pointillist portrait hanging on the wall.
The hotel’s bar, L’Observatoire is on the eighth floor, its bold style out-matched only by the giant windows offering expansive views out over the old city. Also on the top floor is Mu Luxembourg, the hotel’s restaurant, with similar panoramic windows and a cool, teal- and yellow-themed decor.
The style in the 128 rooms and suites is a bit more subdued, with muted feature walls and pops of fuchsia and plum, though still contemporary and spacious.
We like this hotel for its combination of luxe accommodations and postcard-worthy views of the old city and Alzette Valley.

All rooms come with en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a laptop-sized safe, plasma TV, minibar and 24-hour room service.

Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal is located on a ridge across the Alzette Valley from the old town, meaning it has some of the best views in the city but is a bit further from the main highlights. However, it is only about a 15-minute walk to the Palais Grand Ducal.
