Tailor-made travel operator Audley Travel has revamped its USA programme offering clients new itineraries as well as more exclusive and unique experiences.
Luxury New York City and New England
Audley’s USA specialists recommend a new luxury itinerary that sees clients enjoy exclusive experiences and stay in the best hotels as well as enjoying business class seats on the return journey. A highlight of the Luxury New York City and New England trip allows clients to explore The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in a private viewing after the museum closes to the public. The museum houses an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art from around the world, including influential artists including Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Henri Matisse and Jackson Pollock. Clients will be guided round this impressive collection, which is made up of almost 200,000 individual pieces alongside over 20,000 films and is considered one of the finest collections of Western artwork in the world, by a MoMA lecturer on an hour long tour.
Other highlights of the trip include enjoying the culture and history of Boston and spending time in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Recommended activities include walking, cycling or white-water rafting as well as taking the cog railway to the top of Mount Washington — when the weather is fine, the views are breathtaking and Canada can be seen. In Newport, clients sail on an authentic America's Cup 12 metre yacht and then enjoy some time relaxing on the pristine beaches of Chatham, Cape Cod.
Luxury American South
A second new luxury itinerary, Luxury American South is a self-drive trip that sees clients explore the American South from New Orleans to Nashville. Clients will stay in outstanding hotels, enjoy private tours for the duration of their trip and take part in a fantastic Creole cooking class in New Orleans. A highlight for car lovers will be a guided tour of Memphis in a vintage car. Music fans will appreciate a VIP Behind the Curtain tour of the Grand Ole Opry, followed by premium tickets to country music's most famous show.
Hawaii Island Hopping Adventure
Audley’s specialists have launched Hawaii Island Hopping Adventure, an itinerary taking in their favourite islands and the best excursions they have found on their many research trips to the state. Time is spent trekking through the rainforests and relaxing on the beaches of Maui, visiting Pearl Harbor on Oʻahu and snorkelling off the coast of Kauaʻi, famed as the filming location for Jurassic Park. Clients can also enjoy a private guided tour of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Travel is self-drive on the islands, allowing clients to explore at their own pace.
Yellowstone National Park Discovered
New itinerary Yellowstone National Park Discovered focuses on the natural beauty of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, highlighting the abundant wildlife (including bison, elk, deer and bears) and unique geothermal activity in both parks. In Yellowstone, clients will visit the famous Old Faithful geyser which shoots out water every 90 minutes. Visitors will also enjoy exploring the spectacular lakes and waterfalls, boiling mud and hot springs that glow yellow, orange, green and blue. In Grand Teton National Park clients join a tour with an expert guide who explains wildlife sightings including elk, pronghorn deer and black bears. For the more active visitor, activities can include walking, horse riding, kayaking and mountain biking.
New excursions
Audley’s USA specialists have also added new experiences to existing suggested itineraries.
California – Stargazing in Yosemite National Park
Audley’s USA programme now offers a stargazing experience in Yosemite National Park. Far from the city lights and free of roads, the national park boasts some of the nation's best night-sky viewing. Audley’s clients will join a professional guide on an after-dark walking tour where they learn about Yosemite’s nocturnal wildlife population and hear the ancient myths first shared by the indigenous Ahwahneechee and Miwok.
Las Vegas Downtown and Strip food tours
These tours have recently launched in Las Vegas and are brand new for Audley Travel. The Downtown Food Tour gives a local’s view of the city’s less-discovered side, enjoying signature dishes at restaurants devoted to farm-to-table, artisanal-crafted fare. Savours of the Strip features US-celebrity chef restaurants on the strip. Both are small group tours taking in some of the best restaurants in the city, with tables available on arrival and VIP service at each location.
Will Scott, Product Manager for Audley Travel, says: “We are delighted to introduce this new suite of itineraries and experiences for our clients to enjoy. As with all Audley’s programmes, these have been put together by teams who know the USA in depth, having either travelled extensively or lived there — which means the itineraries include elements which a traveller would not find independently.”
