Mahekal Beach Resort

An authentic Mexican-style resort that welcomes families, the Mahekal Beach Resort is located right in the heart of Playa del Carmen, with direct access to the beach. It has 121 rooms in a range of categories spread throughout its grounds in two sections — Caribe and Aventuras. All rooms have one king or two queen beds, hammocks and a terrace or balcony and air-conditioning but no telephones or TVs.

If you are looking to be right near the sea then the oceanfront rooms are for you. The property has a good selection of facilities and amenities providing you with the opportunity to make the most of your stay such as two pools, a games room, bar, two restaurants, bikes for hire from $10 per day, a dive centre and a shop. There is also a small area for massages. Rates are on a half-board basis but you can choose whether to have dinner or lunch in the hotel. Breakfasts are served buffet-style and dinner is either a set menu or buffet.

Its beachfront location ensures it is the perfect base to sit back and enjoy the golden sands and clear blue ocean. The location of the hotel in the centre of Playa del Carmen also means that you have a host of restaurants and bars at your disposal, many of which are in walking distance of your hotel. This is a lively hotel and the noise from Playa can spread occasionally but it does retain a sense of peace throughout its grounds.
