Nestled on a ridge overlooking the impressive Waipoua Forest, Waipoua Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful Kauri Coast. The lodge is over 100 years old and is steeped in history, with accommodation in four self-contained cottages, which have each been converted from a woolshed, a calf pen and the property's original stables and tack rooms.

All the cottages open onto a balcony, which overlooks the beautifully landscaped gardens and the native bush beyond. The lodge itself has been refurbished and is built with native woods, whilst the bar and dining room feature antique farming implements and a 'bellows piano' to accompany the excellent food, for which the lodge has won many awards. There are also several on-site bush walks and guided night walks to spot kiwis, as well as fishing, four wheel drive tours and guided trips into the spectacular Waipoua Forest. Hokianga Harbour is only 40 minutes' drive away and the longest driveable beach in New Zealand is just up the road.
