TSS Earnslaw

TSS Earnslaw cruise to Walter Peak High Country Farm

Affectionately known as the 'Lady of the Lake', the TSS Earnslaw has been steaming the length of Lake Wakatipu since 1912. Named after Mount Earnslaw, the highest peak in the region, she is 51 metres in length, 7.3 metres across the beam and weighs 330 tons. She has always served the remote farming communities around Lake Wakatipu, including the original Walter Peak Station, and is one of the oldest landmarks on the lake.

The Earnslaw now plies her trade with visitors to Queenstown, taking cruises to Walter Peak Station, where visitors disembark to a warm welcome, experiencing rural New Zealand as staff take you on a walking tour of the farmyard and explain traditional farming practices and the significance of various animals. You can watch sheepdogs in action, see the shearing or even try your hand at wool spinning. After morning or afternoon tea you then steam back to Queenstown.
