Argentina & Chile specialist

South America is a kaleidoscope of different cultures and landscapes, making it such an exciting part of the world to travel. In 2022 I spent six months venturing through Latin America, and became captivated by how unique each country’s culture, wildlife and terrain is. This diversity is also evident within the countries themselves, meaning that every day brings something new. It was Chile and Argentina that particularly stole my heart.

Seeing the Atacama desert lit up by the Milky Way, trekking across the Perito Moreno Glacier and seeing the sheer force of the Iguazú Falls are some memories that’ll never quite feel real.

Being in the travel industry now, I’m fortunate enough to share my passion for these countries and bring to life new experiences for other people.

Q&A with Alex

Argentine Parillada, Argentina

What is the best local dish you have tasted

Food plays a huge part in my part travels. I find it a great way to immerse myself in other cultures and discover new things. Argentina is a country filled with incredible culinary delights, from dulce de leche, to beef fat empanadas. Of course, when in Argentina you’ve got to have steak. The best steak I had was in Mendoza, cooked over an asado so it was perfectly charred yet blushing pink when cut open. It offered the familiar smells of a summer barbeque but meat softer than any I have had before. Paired with a typical chimichurri sauce, providing the perfect addition of freshness, sharpness and a hit of chilli.

Parque Provincial Aconcagua, Mendoza

What's your most vivid travel moment?

Arriving to a ranch in the Andean mountains of Mendoza is a moment I’ll never forget. A lush green valley, surrounded by towering, snow-capped mountains made a dramatic backdrop for horseback riding. Accompanied by working Argentinian gauchos made for a really authentic way to experience this aspect of Argentina’s rich heritage. Following on from horseback riding, I got the chance to sit back and relax on the ranch sipping Argentinian Malbec and eating incredible rib-eye steak. This was a moment to enjoy and appreciate the very best of Argentina.

Española Island, Galapagos Islands

Where would you love to travel next?

The Galapagos Islands are a volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean and a wildlife lover’s dream. As an animal lover I'm really keen to swim alongside the island’s playful sea lions.
