Housed in a renovated 16th-century palace amid expansive gardens and forests, CoolRooms Palacio de Luces offers a serene retreat in Asturias. The property once belonged to the aristocratic Victorero family, who eventually relocated to Mexico. In a nod to their move, you’ll see touches of Caribbean influence in both the decor and the restaurant menu. This adds a contemporary twist to the Asturian-inspired dishes, which showcase locally sourced ingredients.

The hotel’s design also takes inspiration from its surroundings, with ocean blues and woodland greens throughout. Large windows in the restaurant and suites, as well as outdoor seating on the terrace, provides you with plenty of opportunity to appreciate the scenic location — from the majesty of the Sierra del Sueve mountains to the neatly manicured vegetable patch on the property’s grounds.

Inside, you’ll find a selection of comfortable, spacious rooms and suites, each offering garden views and some with their own private outdoor space. The hotel also boasts a gym and tranquil spa, complete with heated indoor pool, saunas, and menu of massage treatments.

OUR OPINION:

The location of Palacio de Luces is hard to beat. It gives you access to sandy beaches, picturesque villages, and forested mountains — as well as its own gardens — and the views from the restaurant and rooms are stunning.
