The Manor at Ngorongoro

The Manor is set high up in the Ngorongoro Highlands outside Karatu. It is a 40-minute drive from Manyara and about an hour and three quarters from the Ngorongoro Crater. There are great views to the southeast over the Mbulu highlands to the edge of the Manyara rift wall. Being so high up (almost 7,500 ft) at certain times of the year, mainly July and August, this area can be very cloudy in the mornings, but this is no doubt one of the reasons the extensive gardens are so fertile.

The lodge is constructed in the Cape Dutch style and guests arrive into an impressive entrance hall in the main building. There is also a lounge with comfortable sofas and huge fireplace, a bar area and piano. Meals can be eaten on the open veranda or in the smart dining room.

There are 20 rooms housed in Cape Dutch style buildings (two rooms in each cottage). The rooms are decorated in a classic style and are more like smart suites each with a living area divided from the bedroom by a double-sided fireplace. The en suite bathrooms have claw foot baths, huge showerheads and underfloor heating.

Activities from The Manor include walks on the farm, mountain biking and simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. There are plans for a wellness centre (please check with your Specialist whether this is open yet). Day trips to both the Ngorongoro Crater and the Lake Manyara National Park are also possible.
