Overlooking lush tropical gardens on the banks of the Kwai River, the Oriental Kwai Resort is a small peaceful hotel in a rural village setting about 20 minutes from Kanchanaburi city. It's a family-run property offering highly personal service and a great example of Thailand's renowned hospitality.
There are 12 cottages spread throughout the gardens, two of which overlook the river. The decor blends traditional elements such as dark woods, intricately-carved furniture and decorative Thai masks with white linens, deep red walls and pebble detailing in the bathrooms.
The resort's friendly owners, Djo and Evelien are a great source of local knowledge and happy to answer any questions you may have on the area or its history. There are a number of good golf courses nearby and Djo can recommend the most suited to you depending on your golfing preferences.
The resort has a small swimming pool as well as a children's play area. There are scooters and bicycles to rent and a restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine as well as some Western dishes. If you would like to eat in town, a taxi, or better still, a longtail boat can be arranged to take you there.
A peaceful haven away from the city, this friendly, family-run hotel offers a sense of daily life in rural Thailand. We particularly like the personal service and warm hospitality here.
