Cartagena City Tour
Cartagena City Tour
This half day tour takes you to the Castillo de San Félipe de Barajas — the greatest fortress ever built by the Spanish in the colonies. It is an impressive structure erected between 1639 an 1657.
Time to take to the waters of the Caribbean for a day trip out to Hotel San Pedro de Majagua located on one of the islands of the Isla Rosario chain.
Around 45 miles from the coastal city of Cartagena lie the Rosario Islands (Islas del Rosario), an archipelago formed by coral reefs with small white sand beaches, and clear Caribbean waters that invite snorkelers and divers to appreciate the diverse marine life. The 40 or so small islands have had protected status as a National Park in Colombia since 1977, with reportedly 1,300 species found here.
Although there are just a few small beaches here, they offer visitors a lovely relaxing spot after time exploring the rest of the country — perfect for some R&R, swimming, snorkeling and sun bathing, and not a lot else!
The trips start from your hotel where you will be picked up and transferred to the port. The boats usually depart at about 9.00am. You will head out from the port into open water for the 45-minute ride to the island. Upon arrival you will disembark and have a day to explore the island, or just sit and relax. The hotel has good facilities and included in the day trip is a seafood lunch. You can sit on the small beach and relax for the day or take to some of the short trails that cross the island. Also available for rent is snorkeling equipment in order to view some of the marine life below the waves. The hotel has a beachfront bar and snacks can be purchased throughout the day. At around 4.00pm you will board the boat back to Cartagena.
