Santa Marta Half Day City Tour
Santa Marta Half Day City Tour
A good introduction to Santa Marta, the oldest Spanish colonial city in the Americas.
Traveling west from Santa Marta you will head up into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, soon noticing the cool fresh climate as you leave the humid coast behind and wind up into the peaceful countryside. Minca is a small picturesque town of just 500 inhabitants, nestled in the lush vegetation and loved by visitors for the birdwatching, walking alongside bubbling rivers and waterfalls, horse riding and sampling organic coffee.
Minca is an ecological paradise with its crystalline rivers and dense green vegetation. This wonderful landscape served in the past as the home of the ancient Tayrona culture whose traditions still exist today among the highland indigenous peoples belonging to Kággaba(Kogi), Ijka (Arhuaco), Wiwa (Arzario) and Kankuamo tribal groupings.
Begin the day with a stroll through the beautiful tranquil surroundings of Minca and then perhaps head on to visit a local coffee farm, the area being famous for producing some of Colombia's finest beans. You will have the opportunity of bathing in some natural river pools and visiting the waterfalls, enjoying lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon return to Santa Marta.
