The hotel's rooms and suites are situated around the well-tended tropical gardens. All are decorated in a tropical style in keeping with their surroundings, with tiled floors and pleasant garden views. They feature air conditioning, Wi-Fi, an electronic safe, minibar and terrace with hammock. The Deluxe room category also features a small outdoor Jacuzzi.

Location

Located approximately 20 minutes' drive from the surf town of Tamarindo, Bahia del Sol sits right on the wide tropical beach next to the calm waters of Playa Potrero, which is one of the best swimming beaches along the northern Pacific coast. Potrero is a small fishing village with little to explore nearby, but the tranquility of this location is certainly an advantage for those looking for relaxation away from the crowds.

Food and drink

Bahia del Sol’s beachfront restaurant serves fusion cuisine, with a great backdrop. At breakfast you can expect fresh tropical fruit or American options. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and we love its low-key, informal atmosphere. Lunch might be sandwiches, salads, seafood soups or ceviche, and dinner options are usually a choice of Costa Rican or international cuisine. Attached to the main bar is a swim-up bar, perfect for an afternoon cocktail.

Opposite the hotel's entrance is a good-value restaurant, serving simple, hearty cuisine. There are also a few other restaurants further up the road, but for fine dining you're probably better off taking a taxi to a larger town.

Facilities and activities

Cooling off in the pool, sitting at the swim-up bar with a refreshing drink, swimming in the Pacific and taking strolls along the beach are the main pastimes here, where guests tend to enjoy lazy days soaking up the sun. There's also a small spa at the hotel which offers massages, exfoliation and facials.
