Rachel

Greece & Italy Specialist

My love for travel started at a young age, with yearly family trips to Greece. I quickly fell in love with the country: eating at fish tavernas on the water, visiting some of the many churches perched high on the hills and hearing the familiar daily chorus of cicadas. My affinity with the country I visited throughout childhood draws me back year upon year.

After exploring more of Europe I decided I wanted to venture further afield, traveling around Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Upon my return, I soon realized I wanted to pursue a career in travel and create memorable experiences across the world for others, which ultimately led me to Audley. So, whether that be driving through the majestic Dolomites or watching the sunset over the monasteries of Meteora, I can’t wait to help you plan your dream trip.

Q&A with Rachel

Dusky dolphins, Kaikoura

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

In Kaikoura, New Zealand I was lucky to experience swimming with dolphins. After a few unsuccessful attempts to track them down, we finally got to swim among a pod of hundreds of dusky dolphins. I watched them play and they were really inquisitive, coming so close I could look into their eyes. The encounter was all on their terms and it was enchanting to watch them in their natural environment. I shared the experience with my Mum, which made it that extra bit special. It’s a memory I will carry forever.

Grizzly bear, British Columbia

Where would you love to travel next?

It’s hard to pick just one but a country high on my list is Canada. I love nature and hiking, so I’d like to do a road trip to some of the National Parks and hopefully see some bears along the way.

Ta Prohm, Siem Reap

Your best piece of travel advice?

My best advice for travel would be to keep an open mind and be open to new experiences. I think we often have a preconceived idea of what a country will be like. During my time traveling in Southeast Asia, I decided to visit Cambodia, slightly naïve to the country and its history and with little expectation, and it ended up being one of my favorite places I’ve visited.
