In a world where even small remote islands have become popular tourist destinations, it is increasingly rare to find a sizeable South Pacific isle that has remained largely undeveloped. Therein lies the charm of Vanua Levu, Fiji's best kept secret.

Once important in the copra trade it is now a center for sugar cultivation, and second only to Viti Levu in size, its volcanic origins have left a few gorgeous beaches and the nearby reefs, home to a myriad of marine life offer some of the best snorkeling and diving in Fiji.

Exploring the island

Deep bays and stunning coastline make kayaking a wonderful way to appreciate the untouched beauty of the island whilst the lush rainforested interior keep naturalists very happy.

The island is rugged, unspoilt and is still off the beaten track. Bustling, colorful local markets and a large indigenous population make Vanua Levu the perfect combination of the tropical island paradise and South Pacific culture.
