The 4800 Sail Catamaran gives you the freedom to explore Grenada and the surrounding islands at your own pace. Your skipper, a regular sailor in these waters, will be able to suggest how to make the most of your trip, while the on-board cook will prepare fresh meals, snacks and cocktails.

Enjoy the breeze from the forward-facing lounge and over-water netting, which leads through into an air-conditioned main saloon. There’s also a sitting area at the stern for alfresco dinners.

With no set itinerary, days on board can be spent as you wish. The shores of Grenada and the surrounding Grenadines island chain are fringed with postcard-perfect beaches and the occasional fishing village or welcoming marina. You can swim through Grenada’s underwater sculpture park or ask your skipper to seek out a hidden reef where you can snorkel undisturbed.

You can include a real mix of destinations, including Tobago Cays, a huge horseshoe reef that offers some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean, and the larger island of St Vincent, or even sail onward to Saint Lucia.

By sailing the Caribbean you don’t have to rely on local ferries or water-taxis, allowing you to pack a lot in. You can visit Grenada’s rum distillery, St Vincent’s lively produce market and laze on an untouched sandbank near Petit Saint Vincent, all in a few days. With your skipper’s local knowledge, you can also visit some of their recommended places, which might not be found in a guidebook.

Cabins

There are three air-conditioned cabins, sleeping up to six passengers, as well as a separate cabin for crew. Each room feels light and airy with crisp, minimal décor, a skylight and a long hull window. While not large rooms, the space has been used efficiently, with storage under the bed, on long open shelves and in a bedside storage cubby. There’s a private en suite in each cabin with a washbasin, toilet and shower.

• While you could enjoy all your meals on board, we suggest making the most of the local cuisine which often makes use of Grenada’s plentiful fresh, locally grown produce
• You could visit a beach-side shack to eat oil down (a local dish of coconut milk and dumplings) or dine at a candlelit à la carte restaurant overlooking a marina.

Routes

Your yacht will be waiting for you in Port Louis Marina, a short drive from Grenada’s capital Saint George. Your skipper can share their local knowledge, advising you on the best places to go but ultimately, the route is completely up to you. The beauty of having your own yacht is that you can decide on each day’s activities as you go along, as well as picking a mooring for the night.

Starting in Grenada means you’re well placed to explore the island’s undeveloped coastline, including coves and islets that would otherwise be impossible to reach. From there, you can explore a wide range of islands from the tiny, gem-shaped Diamond Island to Carriacou’s bustling marina (a steel band often welcomes in the weekend on a Friday night). Sail further north and you can reach the volcanic archipelago of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
