Tucked away in a swathe of tranquil woodland just five minutes from the town, the Park Hotel Kenmare welcome guests with effortless class. It is set in a stately Victorian manor and has all the attendant charm with wood-paneled walls, original artwork and antique furniture which combine impressively with contemporary luxury and excellent facilities and service levels.

The guest rooms are furnished in a classically elegant style with beautiful antiques and rich brocades yet feature all modern amenities.

There are three dining areas offering both casual and fine dining and plenty of activities to keep guests entertained, such as classic film screenings and lawn and board games. The hotel also has a relaxing piano bar and indulgent spa.

Rooms

Victorian touches such as intricate floral bedding and antique wooden desks recall the hotel’s illustrious past as a popular destination for wealthy visitors of the late 19th century. These are combined with modern luxuries that ensure all the comforts of the present day. Rooms have goose down pillows and sitting areas with large, comfy chairs as well as flat-screen TV, DVD player and complimentary Wi-Fi. Some higher room categories include the use of a smartphone during the course of your stay to keep you connected while you’re abroad.

Location

Set well back from the road in generous grounds in central Kenmare, the hotel is very conveniently located while still remaining quiet and peaceful. It overlooks the blue waters of Kenmare Bay and abuts acres of woodland crossed by winding trails.

Food and drink

The Park Hotel Kenmare prides itself on its dining options offering three choices from formal fine dining to casual bar meals. Guests can choose between the elegant Dining Room, which serves a set menu of innovative, seasonally changing gourmet dishes, or the more casual Terrace Bistro, which offers a simpler à la carte menu. Both venues provide views out over Kenmare Bay while The Bar offers a selection of light dishes to accompany its extensive wine and whiskey selection.

Families

The hotel arranges daily activities for children such as educational nature walks or treasure hunts. There are three guest rooms which have bunk beds.

Facilities and activities

The hotel’s SÁMAS spa gives guests ample opportunity for relaxation and comfort with a range of treatments and therapies. There is a 25 m (82 ft) swimming pool, tennis courts and a small gym with complimentary fitness classes.

Each week the hotel creates a new schedule of hotel-led complimentary activities such as meditation, garden walks or guided power naps, and tops it off with a screening of a classic Hollywood movie in the evening.
