Explore the highlights of Milan, including Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’, on a walking city tour around the city. You’ll discover Milan’s greatest monuments, from the wonderfully Gothic duomo (cathedral) to the glittering arcades of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Your guide will point out the prestigious La Scala opera house and walk you through the confines of Sforzesco Castle. The tour will also include a stop at the 15th-century Santa Maria delle Grazie Church, where you'll be able to view Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, ‘The Last Supper’.
Entry to The Last Supper is by reserved entrance only, so your guide will tailor your tour around your pre-booked entrance time. Each 15-minute entrance slot is strictly limited to 30 visitors. In order to enter, you'll need to pass through a series of rooms to dehumidify and limit damage to the painting. As you wait to enter the room itself, take some time to appreciate the very informative display, explaining much of the history of the painting as well as its miraculous survival during the bombings of World War II and the incredible restoration effort completed in 1999. Due to restrictions on guiding within the building, your guide won't be able to accompany you in to see the painting itself, but will explain what to look out for before you go in and answer any questions when you exit.
