Rooms
Each of the wooden treehouses is individually designed, with indoor-outdoor living areas that make the most of the jungle surroundings. The decor uses earth tones and plenty of wooden features to create a rustic, yet polished finish. They tower above the canopy with intricately carved furniture, king-size beds, local textiles, and Jamaican artwork. Each has an en suite bathroom with rainfall shower, the hotel's own signature toiletries and expansive bi-fold doors to let the forest inside.
There’s a mix of treehouses, one-bedroom bungalows and a two-bedroom bungalow, each with individual features including outdoor baths, rainfall showers on balconies, luxurious day beds, well-stocked kitchenettes and coffee bars complete with locally sourced beans.
Location
The forest estate sits right by Port Antonio on the northeast coast of Jamaica, close to the Blue Lagoon and some of the most beautiful beaches on the island, including Frenchman’s Bay. The hotel is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Kingston International Airport.
Food and drink
The ethos at Kanopi House is a focus on maintaining Jamaican traditions, and the food served is inspired by lavish Jamaican home cooking and the pungent spices of the Caribbean. Dishes of locally sourced ingredients, including callaloo, ackee, plantain and wild cocoa, all feature on the menu and all dietary requirements are well catered for. An intimate candlelit dinner can also be arranged down on the deck at the Blue Lagoon.
The bar at Kanopi House serves delicious tropical cocktails, local beers and local rum to finish off the day in style. The Living Room restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but guests can also dine in the town of Port Antonio which has a wide range of dining options.
Facilities and activities
This is the ideal place to explore the wild side of Jamaica. Castaway in the ancient tropical forest, the staff at Kanopi House can suggest a number of activities including lagoon boat tours, snorkeling trips to monkey island or a picnic in a secluded jungle location. There’s a local dive shop where staff can arrange diving trips and certifications for you, with a range of local dive sites and waters providing excellent visibility. There’s no pool, but the hotel has direct access to the Blue Lagoon, as well as expansive gardens and a library.
Local excursions
The Blue Lagoon is an excellent adventure spot, as is nearby Reach Falls. These dramatic waterfalls cascade into clear pools where you can bathe in the clean waters and finish with a hike to Robert’s Reach lookout point.
