The Four Seasons Kyoto is one of the most superlative options in town. The property is ideally located in the beautiful Higashiyama area of the city, just minutes away from Kyoto National Museum and a short taxi away from downtown Kyoto Station. Guests can relax and indulge in the comfort of the hotel after a day of sightseeing, with a selection of excellent restaurants, an extensive spa, a zen garden and even a private tea house. Rooms are spacious and exquisitely designed, with elegant murals and comfortable seating areas. Many of the rooms have views overlooking the hotel's own 12th-century pond garden Shakusui-en. The hotel also offers some immersive cultural activities, from unique and authentic ones such as Zen meditation, to more artisanal experiences like an insight into pottery making. Bespoke experiences can also be designed at the request of the concierge.

The Four Seasons Kyoto has made great efforts toward sustainability and supporting the local community. Staff from the hotel volunteer locally, including hosting educational programs for schools, and the hotel showcases work by local creators throughout its rooms. All in-room guest amenities are refillable, and single use plastic has been eliminated, replaced by glass bottles filled from NORDAQ water filtration stations within the hotel. The property supports local farms and suppliers, planning menus around sustainable and seasonal produce, and all food waste is converted to livestock feed nearby.

Location

The Four Seasons can be found in the traditional Higashiyama district of Kyoto. From here, you are just a 10-minute taxi ride away from one of Kyoto’s most famous temples, Kiyomizudera. It is also just a 15-minute walk to Shichijo Station located on the Keihan Main Line, and a seven-minute drive away from Kyoto station, another fantastic transport hub for the city.

Food and drink

Breakfast is served daily in the French inspired Brasserie restaurant, which is also open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers a set menu, à la carte options, as well as cocktails and hot drinks throughout the day. Here guests can enjoy waterside dining, with spectacular views over an 800-year-old traditional Japanese garden.

A more traditional dining choice is also available at the Michelin-Starred Sushi Wakon restaurant, offering guests the opportunity to interact with the world-class chefs as they are crafting each dish.

Japanese tea, sake and champagne is also served throughout the afternoon and early evening in the traditional Japanese Fuju lounge, which can be reached via the 'Shakusui-en' pond garden.
