Jardin Vanille

Set up on the shores of Nosy Komba, Jardin Vanille is an idyllic little hotel which boasts some fantastic views out over the mainland and Nosy Be in the distance. Walking up a flight of steps from the beach, shoes are abandoned on arrival at the hotel. Granite walkways lead guests through the rocks, flowers, and lush vegetation of the hill across which the rooms are scattered.

The nine cozy chalets are set against the green hills — all have a small terrace from where you can settle down with a book in the deckchairs and enjoy the surroundings. The rooms have very simple furnishings and, being nestled into the hills and shaded by giant palms and vanilla trees, temperatures are not as hot as they could be.

The hotel also has one suite which has been built in the perfect spot overlooking the turquoise waters and small covey beach. An airy bedroom with mosquito net and a colorful sitting room both open out onto a large deck where sun loungers and deckchairs are positioned for a day of relaxation, with uninterrupted views over the sea.

The main bar and restaurant area of the lodge has polished wooden floors, a high thatched roof and is decorated with shells from the nearby beaches. Meals are served based on the catch that the fishermen bring to shore each day, but the chef is more than happy to cater for any specific requests or preferences. Below the restaurant are two decks — one for lunch and a second for drinks as the sun goes down.

There are plenty of excursions on offer from the lodge, including snorkeling at nearby Nosy Tanikely, trips on pirogues and visits to nearby plantations.
