My experience in the USA ranges from hiking in Yosemite National Park to helicopter adventures over the Grand Canyon. I have also immersed myself in vibrant cities such as New York, Las Vegas, Nashville, and New Orleans, each showcasing the unique character, culture, and landscape that the USA can offer.
My trip to South Africa as a client of Audley, ignited my passion for working in the travel sector. What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?
The best local dish I’ve tasted while in the USA was Gumbo, during a recent trip to New Orleans. The stew-like dish is a combination of meats, seafood and vegetables all simmered in a thick roux, seasoned with Cajun spices, typically served with rice. Unique to New Orleans the dish reflects the cultural influences creating a dish which embodies French, Spanish, and African influence in the US.
What's the one thing you always pack?
One item I ensure to always pack is a pair of dependable trainers or walking shoes. I believe the best way to truly get to know a destination is on foot. It allows for a deeper immersion into a place and a further opportunity to engage with locals, uncover stories while discovering wider surroundings I would have otherwise missed.
Where would you love to travel next?
Boston and Cape Cod during the vibrant fall foliage are dream destinations for me. Boston offers a rich blend of culture and heritage with the Freedom Trail, while Cape Cod boasts quaint seaside towns and beaches. New England’s allure of picturesque landscapes, fascinating history and relaxed charm makes it an unmissable destination that I am eager to experience first-hand experience.
