The hotel is located beside Lake Kivu above a stretch of sandy beach and has good facilities including a swimming pool, two tennis courts and a gym. There are 66 standard rooms and a handful of family rooms and luxury suites. Each room has double or twin beds, air-conditioning, satellite TV, direct dial telephone and en suite bathroom with tub and shower, and all are furnished to an international standard.

There are several restaurants; The Kivu Sands Restaurant with a panoramic view of the lake serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Lake View Bar looks over the pool and lake and serves snacks and drinks and has music at the weekends.
