Thanda Main Lodge

Thanda, meaning ‘love’ in Zulu, is a 14,000 hectare Big Five private game reserve dotted with beautiful, vibrant yellow fever trees.

The nine en suite bush villas are huge and luxurious with a lounge area, fireplace, minibar, tea/coffee facilities and air conditioning. Outside, you will find a spacious private deck with plunge pool and sala where you can relax and enjoy the views over the reserve. There is also a private boma with fireplace for more intimate meals. The main lodge has a large seating area overlooking a small waterhole and you can pamper yourself with one of the many treatments on offer at the spa. There is also Wi-Fi internet available in the main area of the lodge.

At Thanda you can enjoy a variety of activities including game drives, stargazing, and bush walks. Outside the reserve, the staff can also arrange a boat trip on the estuary at iSimangaliso (Greater St Lucia) Wetlands Park, fishing, horse riding, visiting the beach, snorkeling, birding safaris, microlight flights, midnight turtle tours (November to March), kayak and canoe safaris or a visit to a traditional village.
