The Silo is a beacon of contemporary design and architecture sprung from the hull of a former grain silo on the docks. The hotel is spread over six floors and sits above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), which takes up five floors of the building.
On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and dazzled by the bold, eclectic design of the interiors. Persian carpets and sparkling chandeliers mix with giraffe prints, lively stripes and acidic velvets, all set against transparent tables and modern art.
The 28 rooms and suites follow the same style, designed by interior designer Liz Biden. Each is decorated and featuring enormous bubble windows with sweeping views over the city, Table Mountain and the waterfront. Huge beds, a complimentary minibar with local wines, and a bath with a view add to the sense of indulgence.
The hotel also has several bars and restaurants, a rooftop pool, a gym and an opulent spa with a sauna. Guests also have direct access to the museum below.
The Silo has quickly become one of the trendiest hotels in Cape Town. As well as its slick decor and the attention to detail you find here, we love sitting out on its roof deck and taking in the panoramic views over the city.

Rooms
The 28 rooms and suites are individually decorated in the same opulent but eclectic style as the public spaces. They differ in size, with the sprawling Penthouse providing the most space. Each has a private balcony and contemporary African art. Expect super-sized beds, Egyptian chandeliers, gilt-framed mirrors and vivid velvet upholstery. Enormous multi-faceted windows overlook the port, city or Table Mountain and are mirrored in the bathroom, where you can take in sweeping views as you soak in the bathtub. On arrival, you're welcomed with a gourmet snack box and a complimentary minibar stocked with local wines and soft drinks. Facilities are as indulgent as you might expect with touch-pad blinds, branded toiletries and a Nespresso machine as well as air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
Location
The hotel sits right at the heart of Cape Town’s most vibrant area, five minutes’ walk from the V&A Waterfront. The Robben Island ferry is almost on the doorstep and the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) is directly below the hotel on the lower floors of the original building.
